MORE    HEALTH    INFORMATION

Avoid the following:

  •   Artificial Sweeteners (Nutrasweet - very toxic).
  •   Artificial Colours and Flavours:
Many of these can adversely affect health and also brain neurochemistry, contributing to behavioural disorders, asthma, epilepsy, infertility, diabetes, malnutrition, and many others.
Sue Dengate has a lot of excellent information about food additives. You can find her site by clicking here: The Food Intolerance Network website. This is a great resource for very interesting books, CD's and DVD's also.

  •   It is best to avoid most forms of Dairy. Some people, however, find that they tolerate Goat's dairy products better than Cow's. There are some, however, who should avoid any form of dairy altogether. Generally these people are already aware of this.
  •   Margarine.
Margarine is high in polyunsaturated oils, but these oils have been heated so that they are solid at room temperature. The process of heating the oils has turned them into trans fats and cis fats, which are toxic to the human body. Also, margarine in it's natural colour is green, so the manufacturers add strong colourings to it to make it a commercially desirable and recognisable colour like butter. Margarine is apparently so toxic that if it was introduced today as a food product, it would likely be rejected as being too toxic for human consumption. Many people in the health industry actually call margarine "soft plastic".

  •   Avoid or eliminate Gluten containing products, especially all Wheat products - particularly white flour.

  •   MSG - coded 621 under ingredients list. MSG has a number of bad effects on the nervous systems of many people.

  •   Some Naturopaths/Nutritionists and Dietitians actually promote the consumption of Soy. The following are links about the negative aspects of Soy. Many of them are scientific articles, and you can't argue against scientifically proven research!
  •   Corn.
Humans lack the ability to properly metabolize it. It actually depeletes minerals from the body because in the process of digestion, the body uses up minerals in trying to break the corn down.

  •   Never Microwave food - it turns food toxic.
  •   Pork.
Pork is a toxic meat, partly because the eliminative organs of pigs is quite inefficient, so it builds up a large amount of toxins which are stored in the fat of the pig. According to Sally Fallon, author of several books on health and nutrition, "In the laboratory, pork is one of the best mediums for feeding the growth of cancer cells." Fallon, S. (1995) Nourishing Traditions. ProMotion Publishing: San Diego, CA.

  •   Try to minimise your exposure to all forms of radiation - especially mobile phones, but also computers, televisions, bed side alarm clocks, and many more.
To reduce Mobile Phone radiation get a specially designed radiation cover, and to reduce radiation and glare from Computer Monitors get Anti-Radiation Screen or LCD Monitor, all of which are available from: www.mflanigan.com/emf .

  •   Minimise consumption of White Potatoes.
White potatoes on exposure to light can develop a green pigment, which will then actually render the whole potatoe toxic. For healthier alternatives, see below.

    Do more of the following:

    •   Replace White Potatoes with the pink skinned Desiree Potatoes.
The pink desiree potatoes do not develop the green toxic pigment (see the comment in the previous paragraph above). Sweet potatoes are actually healthier again.

    •   Replace Sugar with a natural herb, Stevia - said to be sweeter than sugar, and actually supports the pancreas rather than draining it as sugar does. Some people, however, just don't like the taste of Stevia, as it does have a slightly bitter taste.

Some people are promoting the use of Xylitol as a sugar replacement. My research, and experience, suggests that Xylitol is definitely NOT a healthy replacement for sugar, and I recommend avoiding it altogether. If you have sugar cravings, it could mean a couple of things, so it is best to adress the cause of the cravings.

    •   Use Coconut Oil to cook with. In Australia I recommend the Melrose brand DME Organic Coconut Oil. In my experience this is the best, and it also comes in glass jars which are healthier than oils stored in plastic.

    •   Consume Omega 3 Fish Oils. In my experience by far the best omega 3 oil is BioCeuticals EPA/DHA Plus. When consuming a fish oil, if you have the enterically coated low-reflux brands, you can't tell if the oil is rancid or not. When you have fish oil, if it causes the horrible reflux taste when you burp, or if it tastes horrible when you bite into the capsule, then the oil is most likely rancid, and definitely should not be consumed. I have personally stored the EPA/DHA Plus (from BioCeuticals) in a warehouse in a warm climate, where the temperature in summer would get well and truly over 40 degrees C, for over 12 months. At the end of that 12 month period, the BioCeuticals fish oil was still fine.

      •   Take Chlorella supplements. Good quality Cholerella supplements actually assist the chelation of toxic heavy metals, such as lead and mercury.
      •   Grapefruit Extract
Grapefruit extract has been found to be effective for several conditions, including candida, allergies, infections, athletes foot, and more.

      •   Drink only Filtered and Energised Water, and plenty of it.

      •   Do the 3 day cleanse and adhere to the mucusless diet.
See www.herbsfirst.com for details about the mucousless diet. I do not necessarily support long-term adherence to the mucusless diet - some people are protein metabolisers, and require a lot more protei to maintain optimal health than other people do. This is also different to the blood type diet.

      •   Having said that, many people find that adherence to the Blood Type Diet is actually beneficial in many cases.
      •   Get a Hair Analysis.
A hair analysis tests for some nutrient deficiencies and levels of toxic elements - www.arlaus.com.au . If you have Heavy Metal toxicity (Mercury, Lead, Aluminium) you can obtain good Chelating Agents from www.kitchendoctor.com or www.extremehealthusa.com. I would also recommend taking Apple Pectin, which also chelates heavy metals and promotes their safe removal from the body. See www.vitaminconnection.com for a good source of easy-to-take Apple Pectin. (It is in tablets as opposed to powder. The posder can be particularly mesy and difficult to take on a regaular basis - it can turn very gluggy, and be extremely dificult to dissolve.)

      •   Get a detailed blood chemical analysis.
      •   As much as possible use only Certified Organic Fruit and Vegetables. There are no regulations in Australia preventing the use of the word Organic, when these are not necesarily certified organic. So you need to ckeck that the labelling does indeed state "certified organic".

      •   Consider doing a supervised Liver Cleanse and Gall Bladder Flush. It is important to first have a gallbladder ultrasound to confirm that it will be safe to undergo the gallbladder flush procedure.
      •   Consume Lecithin.
Lecithin is a Fat Emulsifier, and will help to dissolve fatty deposits in the liver, and perhaps even assist in dissolving gallstones over time. It also helps to emulsify fats in the digestive tract to allow proper digestion of them.
